Fongoli (Kedougou, Senegal) is a hot and dry area with a habituated group of chimpanzees. There are many anthropogenic activities, such as mining exploitation and deforestation. As a result, the possibilities of zoonosis circulation between humans and wild animals are great. This situation has motivated our interest to conduct this study on the gastrointestinal systems of chimpanzees in order to reduce the prevalence of invasive zoonoses at this site.

At the Estación Biológica Quebrada Blanco (EBQB), in north-eastern Peru, Peruvian red uakaris have been repeatedly sighted during long-term field research. The marked seasonality of sightings indicates that the EBQB area represents only a fraction of the uakari's home range and suggests that they undertake large-scale seasonal movements between different parts of the home range and between different habitats. Conservation strategies must take probably large space requirements into consideration.
